The SocialLight Story

SocialLight was founded in Aspen, Colorado in late 2012 by Lucas Z. It was there that he noticed a gap in the photo entertainment/event industry. Calling on his previous photo experience he quickly began designing the SL-1 Capture System. Along the way Lucas crossed paths with Chris Lewis who, having experienced SocialLight for himself, recognized the power and potential of a business that is designed to make people happy. The two teamed up and once on board, Chris quickly elevated the SocialLight Experience to emphasize the fun and entertainment that it truly is. Since then, the SL-1 and the SocialLight Experience has gone through many stages, all to find a set up that is reliable, produces perfect images, is easy to transport and most importantly makes the client’s happy.

About Lucas

Lucas spent 6 years assisting some of the top fashion and commercial photographers in New York City and San Francisco, includding Arthur Elgort and Stan Musilek. He was lucky to have learned a great deal about lighting and photographing people on international campaigns for Verizon, Adidas, Nike, The W Hotel, Forbes, Cartier and Vogue to name a few. He then went out on his own shooting for countless modeling agencies and a few clients before deciding to return to Aspen, Colorado. It was there that he began to apply everything that he learned to the event photography industry and SocialLight was born.

About Chris

Chris managed The Ritz-Carlton Club in Aspen for 5 years, directly overseeing a $2,000,000 operating budget as well as a 55-person team. His Front of House team was nationally recognized and were brought in to create new SOP’s that became standard among all of Ritz-Carlton’s. His interest in his team’s growth was inherent in the company’s overall success. After relocating to Denver and seeing the potential of SocialLight as a widely recognized brand, he quickly jumped at the opportunity.
